About the Glizzy Archive.
A fan-made shrine to the most American sporting event of the year.
What this is
Glizzy Time is an independent fan archive of Nathan's Famous Fourth of July International Hot Dog Eating Contest. It collects every documented champion since 1972, the hot dog counts, the world records, and the stories behind the numbers — all on one page, designed to feel like a vintage newspaper sports section.
Who runs it
The site is built and maintained by Brendan Welsh — a fan of the contest, of Coney Island, and of taking strange American traditions seriously. There is no team. There is one guy. If anything is wrong, it's his fault. See the contact page to report it.
Where the data comes from
Results are compiled from publicly reported sources, including Major League Eating, ESPN broadcasts and recaps, Nathan's Famous historical announcements, and contemporaneous press coverage from the New York Daily News, AP, and others. The Wikipedia article on the contest is also a useful cross-reference. If you spot a discrepancy, please write in.
Affiliation
Glizzy Time is not affiliated with Nathan's Famous, Major League Eating, ESPN, or any contestant. All trademarks belong to their respective owners. The site is a fan tribute and exists for editorial and educational purposes.
How it's built
The site is a single static HTML page hosted on Cloudflare Pages. No tracking, no third-party analytics, no email signup, no popups. Just one page that loads fast and tells the whole story. The little hotdog man at the bottom of the homepage is an easter egg — press him ten times.
